With his seventh album ‘Crying The Neck’, 41-year-oldmulti- instrumentalist and composer Patrick Wolf hascreated a confident, uplifting and hopeful record inspiredby the transfiguring power of grief at the death of hismother, folklore, the Kentish landscape, and the state ofEngland. On this album, Patrick brings in long term friendsZola Jesus, Serafina Steer and Seb Rochford to provideguest appearances.
The first in a planned four-album series, ‘Crying The Neck’was written and recorded in the Kent coastal town Patricknow calls home. As well as the album’s release, 2025 willalso see the release of a BFI funded feature-lengthdocumentary film about his life.
Across his first six albums, Patrick established himself as amuch loved and respected artist. He is known forcombining electronic sampling with classical instruments. The CD edition comes, after a moments silence, with three‘instrumental’ versions chosen by Patrick as works ofcomposition and string arrangement that he felt needed tobe heard alongside the album song versions, ‘The CurfewBell’ and ‘Lughnasa’ heard here composed and recordedas one piece of music in its sprawling multiple timesignatures and keys and the backing to ‘Foreland’composed as a duet between two string quartets.
Gatefold CD with two fold-out lyric and credit pages with asquare poster size image by Furmaan Ahmed on thereverse, plus bonus instrumental tracks.
